   There is one determining factor in the quality of a cowhide and it is the tanning process. Has the hide been tanned properly? – and there are many that aren’t – .  We provide hides that are chromium tanned that have a nice sheen, are soft and supple, long-lasting, that are crafted with expert skill and craftsmanship from reputable, proud tanneries in Brazil.
   There are many people selling inferior cowhides. They may often have a chemical odor, be stiffer, have a duller coat, and often have an excessive amount of patching and stitching. So if you are offered a deal on inexpensive cowhide let the buyer beware: they may be produced with an inferior tanning process, and you will not receive the value you deserve.
   Primarily used as a rug, a cowhide can provide years of beauty and durability with minimal care. The hides tend to lay well because they are so soft and supple. The soft suede literally grips the surface. With light wear you can shake out or beat the hide to remove dust or simply vacuum as you would any other rug without the brushes running to avoid pulling the hair. The hides natural oils resist staining. Spills can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. If a stain should occur, use mild soap, warm water and a soft brush or cloth, rubbing with the grain of the hair. In high traffic areas you may want to rotate the hide occasionally if you get excessive wear.

     The hides are based on Sq. Meters. On occasion there may be a hide up to 60 Sq. meters. That is HUGE.
